Stair tread specifications
At Newport Panels we manufacture stair treads using four to seven pieces of quality maple that are glued together. The result is a beautiful and resistant tread that will be the center of the home for a long time.

Many people are under the misconception that stair treads manufactured by gluing multiple pieces of wood together are not as solid as stairs treads made from a single piece of lumber. A stair tread that is manufactured from a single piece of lumber actually has less strength and a greater tendency to warp.

Unique gluing process
As opposed to many of our competitors, when gluing our wood pieces together we do not use radio frequency as this may cause arcing and burning; our gluing process uses a clamping technique. The adhering of our wood pieces is so strong the joint will never split - guaranteed.

Soft maple wood
At Newport Panels, soft maple is our specialty; maple sands beautifully and holds edges well for corner joinery.
